US President-elect Donald trumpannounced on Tuesday that South African billionaire Elon Musk will be part of his government.
Trump said in a statement that the owner of Tesla and X will run the Department of Government Effectiveness along with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Musk and Ramaswamy “will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, dramatically reduce excess regulation, cut wasteful spending and restructure federal agencies,” Trump said.
“This will shock the system and everyone involved in government waste, and there are many of them,” Musk said.
Likewise, Trump said the appointments of Elon and Vivek bring changes to the federal bureaucracy with the goal of increasing efficiency while improving the lives of all Americans.
“And most importantly, we will end the enormous waste and fraud that exists in $6.5 trillion a year in government spending,” Trump said.
