We have very important new information about Resident Evil 9. During the months of April and September 2024 various game tests with this long-awaited title and some very interesting details have been leaked that shed light on key points that we didn’t know until now.

There’s a lot of fabric to cut, so I’ll get straight to the point. The April 2024 test focused on Jill Valentine, and in theory it took place in an abandoned hospital that was located on an island. This hospital was decorated with symbols that clearly referred to some kind of religious cult, such as the moon and the infinity symbol.

The main goal of exploring the hospital was to find a serum that serves as a cure for an infection that affects the island’s inhabitants, turning them into a kind of moldy zombies. These enemies are not like classic zombies, but more similar to those from Resident Evil 4, as they can use knives, axes and scythes.

Jill is supported by radio from Chris Redfield and Barry Burton She is armed with a shotgun, pistol and knife, three classics of the franchise, and retains the ability to craft ammo, something that debuted in Resident Evil 3 Nemesis. The most interesting part is that throughout the game sequence, Jill is being chased the enemy we cannot kill known as “Goat Man”, “goat man” in literal translation. At the end of the sequence, he infects Jill, which raises a lot of anticipation.

The September 2024 demo focused on Leon S. Kennedy, and it took place on a beach that led right into the forest that is near Mr. Simon’s lab that Leon is chasing. Simon creates clones of Evelyn, who I’m sure many of you will remember from her role as the main villain in Resident Evil 7.

During this demo, Leon also had to face fungus infected zombies that can use different weapons and he has to avoid an invincible enemy that keeps chasing him, but this is different from the one chasing Jill because can turn into a swarm of flies which cause hallucinations. Yes, I’m sure it will remind you of the sisters from Resident Evil Village.

A cult is confirmed to exist in Resident Evil 9 as several enemies are seen praying to the moon by a fire during the demo with Leon. Leon and Jill can have two different scenarios, something that would be a great idea and was first implemented in the saga with Resident Evil 2.

From what I’ve seen, it looks like Resident Evil 9 is going to be strong influences from Resident Evil 4 as well as Resident Evil 7. I recall that it was rumored that this game would have a more open world approach and that it would be exclusive to the current generation of consoles and PC. Its launch will take place in second half of 2025.
