One of these images shows the Super Heavy on the Starbase Orbital Launcher; The 50 meter high upper part of the rocket is known as the Starship or simply the Ship. The upper part was delivered to the construction site on Tuesday, November 12.
The next big step will be to lift Starship to Super Heavy, which SpaceX will build with giant chopsticks. To date, Starship has flown five times in this fully assembled configuration, most recently on October 13. That test flight was successful. The Super Heavy returned to Earth, where it was captured by the launcher’s massive claws, and the Ship was lowered into the Indian Ocean as planned.
“Starship’s next flight test aims to expand the capabilities of the ship and booster and move closer to the possibility of reusing the entire system online,” SpaceX says in its mission statement. “Goals include returning the launch vehicle to the launch pad for landing, re-starting the Raptor engine in space, and testing a series of thermal protection and maneuvering experiments for re-entry and landing in the Indian Ocean.”
