Microsoft is now allowing users to download a Windows 11 installation image file that is compatible with ARM. Such ISO files have long been available for all different x86-based editions of Windows. The option was not previously available for ARM-based systems. You can download a multi-edition ISO of Windows 11 for ARM64 from this Microsoft website. You can use the ISO to create a bootable media such as a DVD or USB stick. You can also use the file to install Windows 11 in a virtual machine running on ARM.
The ISO is compatible with all ARM 64-bit processors. In some cases it may be necessary to add drivers from the manufacturer to ensure booting. In this case, the ISO is primarily relevant for virtual machines and for the Windows laptops launched this year with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip under the hood.
