A performance test of the Galaxy S25 has leaked on Geekbench, confirming a big improvement over the Galaxy S24 and it will have 12 GB of RAM instead of 8 GB. Increasing the amount of available memory by 4GB will improve performance and longevity, making it a more capable model for local AI work.
It’s not clear if this increase in RAM will happen. generally or whether it could be limited on specific Galaxy S25 versions. For example, a model with 128 GB of storage capacity may still have 8 GB of RAM, and models with 256 GB and above only 12 GB of RAM.
A Qualcomm SoC is also listed in the spec breakdown of this performance test, so it’s clear that the Galaxy S25 will use it Snapdragon 8 Elite. This chip will have an eight-core CPU divided into two blocks, the first block will have 6 cores at 3.53GHz, which will be the lowest-power one, and the second will have two cores at 4.47GHz, which will be the highest-power one .
The rest of the specifications of this new smartphone will very similar to those of the Galaxy S24, and the same is expected from the design. There is no leak or any information that suggests major changes on either of these two fronts, so we can expect the Galaxy S25 to be almost a copy of the Galaxy S24 on an aesthetic level as well as build quality.
The new thing from Samsung will use Android 15 with the One UI customization layer and will be introduced in January 2025. Rumors are not entirely consistent in this regard, with some saying that it will launch in the first week of January, and others that it will fade away at the end of the said month. The important thing, however, is that they all agreed that they would arrive in January next year.
The prototype that passed Geekbench 6 achieved 2,481 points in single thread and 8,658 points in multiple threads. These results far exceed the 2,064 single-threaded and 6,351 multi-threaded scores achieved by the Galaxy S24. The numbers reflect an obvious generational leap motivated by the use of the new Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.
