The event preceded the G20 Leaders’ Summit, which will bring together representatives next Monday and Tuesday heads of state of the world’s largest economies in the iconic Brazilian city.
In the G20 Social Final Declaration, civil society leaders emphasized the need moving towards an “inclusive, sustainable and sustainable” futureemphasizing the urgency of implementing collective solutions to global problems.

“Agreements cannot remain on paper; “The world needs decisive action now,” they said in the document, where they also stressed the urgency of combating social inequality and guaranteeing food sovereignty.
In particular, non-governmental organizations and movements have called for great commitment “mitigate the effects of climate change” and asked increasing efforts and actions to reduce carbon emissions by promoting renewable energy and supporting vulnerable communities affected by the climate crisis.

In the declaration, they also called “urgently and as a top and imperative priority” for all G20 member countries and other countries around the world to join the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, an initiative of the Brazilian President. Likewise, they advocated a global tax on the super-rich to reduce inequality, and called for global governance reform with greater participation from countries in the global south and asked member states combating disinformation and strengthen democratic institutions in the face of growing authoritarian threats.
Adapting labor markets to the digital age with a focus on decent jobs, guaranteed social protection for the most vulnerable and promoting international cooperation are other aspects highlighted in the document, which also calls for a strengthened global commitment to the inclusion of social and gender equality.
G20 Social is one of the initiatives promoted by Brazil as president of the forum with the aim of increasing the participation of non-governmental actors in the activities and decision-making processes of the bloc under the motto “Build a just world and a sustainable planet”.
