The British Ministry of Defense and the company BAE Systems reported successful tests of the latest SPEAR small air-to-surface cruise missile, which is claimed to have a range of up to 150 kilometers.
The new generation rocket, equipped with a turbojet engine, was launched from the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet at the Widsel training ground in Sweden.
The new weapon is planned to be used against air defense systems, ships, tanks, reinforced structures and fast-moving vehicles. The army will equip F-35 aircraft with SPEAR missiles that can carry eight ammunition at the same time.
