You’ll soon be able to schedule messages in Microsoft Teams channels, and you’ll no longer mispronounce your name thanks to Outlook’s new business card recording feature.
Microsoft is working on some new features for Microsoft Teams and Outlook, which will be rolled out starting January 2025, according to Microsoft’s roadmap. From then on, users can schedule messages in Teams channels so you can accommodate colleagues’ work schedules. Microsoft is working on a feature in Outlook to include your profile cards so you can save your colleagues from annoying situations where they mispronounce your name.
Schedule messages
Scheduling messages has been possible in Microsoft Teams for some time, but from January 2025 users will also be able to do this in Teams channels. This allows you to take your colleagues’ working hours into account and automatically send messages at the most convenient time.
Microsoft is also working on new features for the “near future,” such as access to “Copilot agents” in group conversations and “Math Progress” for teachers and students. Microsoft has not yet provided any clarity on exactly how these features work.
Provide names
Have you ever received an email whose name is difficult to pronounce? This can lead to awkward situations if you mispronounce the name. Microsoft has now found a solution for this.
A notable new feature in Outlook is the ability to include names in profile cards. This allows you to record and share the correct pronunciation of your name so that colleagues know exactly how to pronounce your name. This new feature will be rolled out starting January 2025 and will be released in preview in November 2024. The launch dates of various new features may change at any time.
