Russian President, Vladimir Putin, today approved a nuclear doctrine that allows you to respond with nuclear weapons to conventional attacks which threaten the sovereignty of Russia and Belarus.

At the same time, the doctrine emphasizes that Russia considers nuclear weapons as a defensive “tool of deterrence”, the use of which is an “extreme and forced measure.”

Putin announced changes to nuclear doctrine at the end of September, but He accepted it immediately after 1,000 days of fighting in Ukraine had passed.
