Apple announces music recognition tool Shazam It has detected more than 100 billion songs since its launch. Shazam started as an SMS service in the UK in 2002 and became one of the first iPhone apps to be available on the App Store in 2008.
Apple shared some interesting comparisons of these statistics:
— This is the equivalent of 12 songs identified for every person on Earth.
— One person would need to use Shazam to identify one song every second for 3,168 years and reach 100 billion.
— That’s more than 2,200 times the definitions of Shazam’s most popular song, “Dance Monkey,” with more than 45 million tags.
– Shazam Predictions 2023 graduate Benson Boone’s song “Beautiful Things” became the first and fastest song released this year to reach 10 million views in 178 days. At this rate, it will take more than 4,800 years to reach 100 billion.
Apple purchased Shazam It launched in 2018 and now supports built-in music recognition in iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Shazam is deeply integrated into Apple’s software platforms, including Control Center and Siri, as an action button option on models. iPhone 15 Pro and all iPhone 16 models, as a Smart Stack widget on Apple Watch, etc.
