Even while waiting for its Hi-Fi function, Spotify usually adds new features and improves existing ones with more than justifiable frequency. And we can also understand that they do so with even greater interest in business areas that can generate a larger volume of profit, such as audiobooks. And as we told you back then, the dean of streaming music services decided to break its model with the inclusion of this type of content.

Among the most notable new features is the implementation of a sleep timer, a feature that allows users to program a playback time before the audiobook automatically stops. This feature is especially useful for those who like to listen to audiobooks before bed, as it prevents content from continuing to play once they fall asleep, or at least making minimal progress in that regard.

In addition to the timer, Spotify has introduced the ability to create specific playlists for audiobooks. This feature makes it easier for users to organize and quickly access their favorite or pending titles, improving the management of their personal library. The platform has also launched playlists created by its editorial team that offer recommendations and thematic selections for different tastes and preferences.

Another addition is the creation of countdown pages for upcoming audiobook releases. These sites allow users to save titles ahead of their release date, ensuring instant access as soon as they become available. This tool is especially beneficial for authors, editors and storytellers as it gives them an additional platform to promote their works before they are officially published.

Spotify has also implemented author pages where biographical information is offered and the complete catalog of each writer is presented. This feature is currently in a pilot phase and is available to a select number of authors. Likewise, a specific video player for audiobooks has been added, allowing authors and publishers to upload short videos related to their titles, offering listeners a deeper insight into the content before they start listening.

Finally, some audiobooks now include an eye-tracking feature that provides an immersive experience by displaying illustrations, photos, and graphics in sync with the narration. These additional elements are found in the “extras” section of compatible audiobooks and enrich the listening experience with additional visual content.
