The use of OLED monitors for gaming continues to expand and we receive news every week. And some twice. If in the past days we saw the LG UltraGear OLED GX7, today we get two new models from GIGABYTE.
You already know that the industry has bet on LCD-derived panels in gaming monitors. TN in the case of professionals and VA for consumption, although special versions of IPS such as “Rapid” were also used. The use of OLEDs was much rarer due to their high cost and the fact that they were less capable solutions in some specific gaming properties such as refresh rate.
But technological progress and OLED have improved in these areas, while maintaining the best image quality on screens. The news from GIGABYTE is a good example of the two models MO27Q2 and MO32U that use QD-OLED panels manufactured by Samsung.
He MO27Q2 It is the smallest model with a diagonal of 27 inches. Its native resolution is 1440p and the gaming part is very well covered with a refresh rate of 240Hz and a response time of only 0.03ms G2G. It has coverage of 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and maximum brightness with support for a high dynamic range of 1000 nits.
He MO32U It’s even more interesting. The larger one at 32 inches also offers a higher native resolution as it is 4K which reaches 3840 x 2160 pixels. Its panel is 10-bit and the coverage for DCI-P3 is also 99%. It has a refresh rate of 165Hz, which is not bad for 4K, and a response time of 0.03ms.
Both models support DisplayHDR True Black 400 VESA and compatible with image synchronization technologies, FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync. They have HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4 and USB Type-C inputs with DP function and capable of powering external devices with a power of 10 watts. They also have HUB ports, two USB 3.2 Type-A (downstream) and one USB 3.2 Type A (upstream). The new GIGABYTE OLED monitors have an ergonomic base with +15° to -15° rotation, 130 mm height adjustment and -5° to +21° tilt. The company will announce pricing and availability soon.
