After the huge success of Steam Deck and the growing number of alternatives that are coming to market, it seems that another big step in portable gaming will come from AMD itself. And the latest rumors suggest this the company is already preparing new APUs an improved quad-core with Zen 4 and RDNA3 architectures, which it probably would be designed to power the next generation Steam Deck.

Rumors shared by YouTube Moore’s Law is Dead guarantee that the company’s internal report mentioned this new chip, currently known as “Van Gogh Successor”.

Among other things, details are given chip with a size between 110 mm² and 150 mm²with more options, but also more expensive to produce.

A new APU called Little Phoenix will be introduced 4 cores and 8 threads and will be able to achieve 4 GHz frequency, offers performance 25% to 35% higher than the current generation. Based on the Zen 4 architecture, it will release a new Radeon graphics processor with native RDNA3 support, which promises improvements up to 50% for graphics regarding the Steam Deck available today.
