Volvo Trucks has announced the start of tests of trucks powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

As Ukrinform reports, CNBC reports.

The company claims that the new technology will increase the range of trucks to 1,000 km after one refueling. It will take up to 15 minutes to refuel the vehicle.

Pilot projects for customers will begin in the next few years, with hydrogen fuel cell trucks scheduled to be commercialized by the end of this decade.

Fuel cells for Volvo Trucks will be supplied by cellcentric, a joint venture with Daimler Truck established in March 2021.

“Hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric trucks will be particularly suitable for long-distance travel and heavy, energy-intensive tasks,” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks.

As Ukrinform reported, NNEGC Energoatom and Ukrgasbank agreed to start a joint project to create a national network of electricity charging stations in Ukraine.
