Lenovo places ThinkShield on, above and below your PC’s operating system. The new extension improves security at the firmware level.

Lenovo is expanding its ThinkShield portfolio to include Firmware Assurance, a solution that provides visibility and protection for firmware components under the operating system. The technology uses a zero trust architecture to better identify and manage risks.

Firmware protection

ThinkShield Firmware Assurance focuses on business PC security by verifying firmware components with a dedicated embedded controller. This controller validates the integrity of critical components during the boot process, creating a reliable security foundation. The solution assigns a trust level to devices based on objective risk assessments.

The technology prevents the installation of unauthorized software or firmware without recognized certificates and blocks unwanted changes to BIOS settings. Automatic recovery options provide additional security. This makes it easier for IT teams to manage PCs efficiently and securely.

On, above and below the operating system

ThinkShield Firmware Assurance is part of Lenovo’s ThinkShield ecosystem, which provides hardware, software and data security solutions. This integrated approach supports companies in hybrid work models and provides protection against hardware and firmware attacks.

Lenovo emphasizes that ThinkShield is designed to help companies maintain a secure supply chain from factory to end user. Collaborations with partners such as Intel and AMD reinforce this aspect. Additionally, ThinkShield provides threat solutions from OS to cloud, including AI-driven endpoint security and automated BIOS patching.
