Google recently released Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3.1A minor update to the current QPR (Quarterly Platform Release) beta. These betas are designed to enhance and polish the Android experience before official Quarterly Platform updates. QPR is focusing on bug fixes, stability tweaks, and internal improvements rather than flashy new features.

- Fixed an issue where pressing the media controls would close the notification panel but not open the app.
- Fixed the issue where long pressing on the device login icon would not work when there are many notifications and the notification shelf covers the lock icon.
- Fixed an issue that prevented proper volume control for some Bluetooth devices.
- Fixed an issue where the Material You background image had very similar color options.
- Fixed an issue where scrollbar size and style were inconsistent in System Preferences.
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused NFC payments to fail.
- Fixed an issue where Indonesian and Hebrew translations were not displayed correctly for apps targeting Android 14 (API level 34) or lower.
- Fixed various other issues affecting system stability, camera, connectivity, localization, accessibility, and interactivity.
This release follows the initial Android 16 developer preview, which gave developers an early look at upcoming updates. The major Android 15 update released in September brought with it important features such as Private Space, a safe area for sensitive apps, and Theft Detection Lock, which uses artificial intelligence to lock your phone in case of theft attempts. Other improvements include better app fraud protection, improved augmented reality content in Google Maps, and improved features for cars, TVs, and smartwatches. You have a few options to get the Android 15 QPR1 beta:
- Android beta testing program: Enroll your Pixel device (Pixel 6, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 8, 8 Pro, etc.) into the Android Beta Program; You will receive over-the-air (OTA) beta updates. when they were released.
