Amazon has invested another four billion dollars in the AI start-up Anthropic. This increases the total investment to eight billion euros.
Amazon has invested $4 billion in Anthropic. This is Amazon’s largest investment in a startup to date and shows how fierce the competition is in the generative AI space. Anthropic, known for its chatbot Claude, was valued at $18 billion earlier this year and previously received $2 billion from Google.
Invest, invest, invest!
The partnership strengthens the integration of Anthropic’s AI models with Amazon’s cloud and chip products. Amazon doesn’t work exclusively with Anthropic, but can also work with companies like Google and Nvidia. Claude will be integrated into an enhanced version of Alexa.
With this move, Amazon follows other tech giants that are making similar investments, the Financial Times knows. For example, Microsoft has invested more than $13 billion in OpenAI. They are investing not only in AI innovations, but also in the cloud infrastructure to support these systems.
As these deals accelerate AI development, regulators are increasingly concerned about possible competitive risks. Amazon emphasizes that the demand for AI services continues to grow.
