According to Jensen Huang, it will take several years to eliminate AI hallucinations. This requires enormous computing power, he says.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, believes that the problem of AI hallucinations – situations in which AI generates false information – will remain a challenge in the coming years. According to Huang, solving this problem is a complex process that requires a significant increase in computing power. He said this during an interview at the University of Hong Kong, which was attended by Tom’s Hardware.

Three stages of development

Huang emphasized that artificial intelligence is currently going through three major development stages: pre-training, post-training and test time scaling. In this final phase, the AI tries to solve problems step by step. Although these techniques lead to increasingly better answers, trust in AI answers remains limited. Users often have to judge for themselves whether the AI results are meaningful and reliable.

He predicts it will take the industry years to reach a level where AI answers are fully reliable. Until then, the focus is on further improving computing power and learning techniques.

Despite these limitations, Huang sees Nvidia’s role as crucial: “We have reduced the marginal cost of computing power by a factor of a million. This makes machine learning more accessible than ever.” AI technology has made possible.
