AMD has yet to announce the Threadripper 9000, the next generation of its high performance processors (HEDT), but a shipping manifest published on a Chinese web portal confirms a 2025 launch and some key features.

The Threadripper 9000 series, developed under the code name “Shimada Peak”, is important because will celebrate the premiere of the ZEN 5 architecture in these processors intended to power professional workstations (3D rendering, video editing, scientific simulations, etc., but also consumer client machines for enthusiasts).

Threadripper 9000 listings

A listing on the Chinese site NBD DATA shows two SKUs, which aim to be the top of the line and the default model of the platform, which will, remember, be distributed with more versions and in two different series, the standard Threadripper. and Threadripper PRO.

Threadripper 9000

The leaked top model has 96 cores and 192 threads. It consists of 12 CCDs, each with eight cores and 32 MB L3 cache, a configuration strikingly similar to that of the current Threadripper PRO 7995WX. AMD has not yet confirmed the number of versions that will be launched that will correspond to the ‘Pro’ series.

The second model is more interesting for ordinary users who plan to build a PC with this platform, because it has 16 cores. Since the base model of the current Zen 4-based Threadripper 7000 series has 24 cores, the new model could be AMD’s attempt offer a more affordable option. Between these two lists, of course, we will have other transitional options that take over from versions such as the Threadripper 7970X that we analyzed at the time.

The listing also confirms that they will use both chips socket SP6 and will have a maximum TDP of 350W. Still unconfirmed speculation says that the Threadripper 9000 will support up to 128 PCIe lanes. Also unknown are the operating frequencies and whether AMD will match the maximum frequencies of the consumer Ryzen 9000.

Of course, we take it for granted that AMD’s new HEDT processors will be at the cutting edge of technology, with support for the most advanced standards and all the benefits of the ZEN 5 architecture that it will unleash.
