In his podcast, he noted that the continued presence of traditional media is only because “they’ve been there for a long time.” This doesn’t seem like a good way to proceed.
“Why not open it up to people who have a wider audience and more followers?” added the first-born son of the future president, according to whom his father thought the change was a “great idea.”
The New York tycoon, according to his son, considering this possibility because of the way the media behaved towards him.
New York Timesin his opinion, showed “is against everything and acts as the marketing arm of the Democratic Party.”
The White House, however, does not usually decide who gets a seat in the briefing room. This task is entrusted to the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA). which brings together journalists covering the institution and which, according to its website, has allocated seats since the Ronald Reagan administration (1981-1989).
There are only 49 seats in the hall. everything is assigned to a specific carrier. Having a designated seat makes it easier to refer questions to the press secretary, although any reporter with the appropriate credentials issued by the White House press office may attend press briefings standing.
The first row is for the agency. Associated Presswho traditionally always has the first question at press conferences, as well as correspondents from major television networks such as NBC, Fox, CBS, ABC and CNN.
The second row is occupied by important newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post And New York Timesamong other famous media.
Under the Joe Biden administration Press conferences were almost daily. just as Barack Obama (2009–2017) and George W. Bush (2001–2009) had them.
However, during his first term in the White House (2017-2021), Trump maintained a contentious relationship with the press and called the media “enemies of the people” and “fake news” He ordered his public relations team to break this tradition.
Hence, Press conferences have become sporadic under Trumpdepending on the press secretary who held this position at that time. In fact, between March 2019 and January 2020, a record was set for more than 300 days without a representative.
