Legion Go S, also known as “Lite”, is a new portable console that Lenovo is developing. As you will see from his last name, the goal is cut costs to lower the selling price and thus attract a larger number of users.
The Lenovo Legion Go is a fantastic machine. I personally like it the most out of all the PC giants made. But it has its obligations, like everyone else. Thickness, weight, autonomy, price… A few months ago, Clifford Chong, head of Lenovo’s gaming division, confirmed the development of new versions. The manager’s statements were more about the second generation, but also more affordable versions.
A ‘Lite’ version arrived, completing the transformation to ‘S’. Windows Central has released a few leaked renders, and we like some things and others even less, as we understand that the main goal is to keep the price down.
The first change is fundamental, it affects the very concept of the console and can be seen in the images. And Lenovo chose change the control system of the original model with removable controls similar to the benefits of the Nintendo Switch, with a more standardized integration typical of a gamepad and approaching designs such as the ASUS Ally.
Less versatile, with less potential and no way to brag about it because he’ll be like everyone else. In exchange for this, it will be cheaper to manufacture and the additional benefit that was needed, such as a reduction in thickness and weight.
As for the internal components, the S is said to come with a chip from the AMD Ryzen Z2 Rembrandt platform (Zen 3+ and RDNA2). A more affordable option than the high-end Ryzen Z2 semi-custom SoC. The honeycomb reverse ventilation system will not differ much from its predecessor. Yes, the screen size (8.8 inches) could be reduced.
But everything is up in the air as there is no official confirmation. The price should be the most attractive on the Legion Go S, and there is talk of a price launch between $399 and $449. Compensating for familiar cuts that can appeal to a mass audience.
