Last September, we told you about the Bloodborne Remaster, an interesting project that aims to improve the original PS4 game and make it an exclusive computer. To play, you must have the original game that works with the ShadPS4 emulator and download the mod developed by “fromsoftserve”, which is available for free on Nexus Mods.

This project has jumped to version 0.75 which introduces some graphical improvements in different areas of the game as well as parallax occlusion mapping on certain surfaces in different areas and also improves the quality of some textures. You can see these new graphics improvements applied in the attached video at the end of the article.

Bloodborne Remaster is a project that has been in development for some time now, in its various versions collects many other improvements which together make this game better and better. It is also compatible with other specific mods from the same author, one of which eliminates the light coming from the player to improve realism and the other improves texture quality.

The truth is that the result that “fromsoftserve” achieves with this mod is very good. Compared to the original PS4 game, there has been a significant overall improvement in graphical quality, so much so that it truly deserves to be considered a Bloodborne Remaster. However, it is important to remember that by improving the graphic quality of the game your demands are growingand therefore we will need a more powerful PC to move it smoothly.

Bloodborne Remaster

Graphical improvements in Bloodborne Remaster

  • Dynamic shadow projection for the entire game.
  • Adjusts the extent and visibility of shadows.
  • Improved textures, although they still don’t cover the entire game.
  • More ambient occlusion is used by editing gparam files.
  • In some maps (such as central Yharnam) the ambient fog is mixed with the sky so they naturally integrate.
  • Improved level of texture detail.
  • The default in-game anti-aliasing has been disabled and a pre-configured overshadowing has been used, which allows for a higher quality temporal anti-aliasing that better reduces sawtooth.
  • Adjustments have been made to Gparam to increase contrast and lighting.
  • Added light points on street lamps, wall lamps and other light sources also cast shadows (in progress, not full game yet).
  • Added parallax occlusion mapping to surfaces (in progress, will increase with each release).

There is still a lot of work to be done on Bloodborne Remaster, but the important thing is that its development continues and as we can see, it is well on its way. Perhaps in the future, new projects will develop that propose even more ambitious things, for example using ray tracing in this game.
