Al-Bahra stressed that “a political solution consistent with UN resolutions, in particular resolution 2254, “This is the only viable and sustainable solution for Syria.” and defended the right of the Syrian people to resort to “all possible means” to achieve this goal, according to a statement published by CNFORS itself on its website.

To this end, he called on the international community to take measures to “revitalize” the political process and opened the door to an agreement within a “maximum” period of six months which led to the creation of transitional authorities in Syria, without HTS and other groups commenting on the viability of the plan or their willingness to participate in it.

The opposition leader also confirmed the readiness of CNFORS start negotiations “immediately” to address these claims and guarantee the country’s “independence, unity and sovereignty”, given fears of Syria’s territorial disintegration into areas under the control of rival factions, including Kurdish autonomous territory in the northeast.
