South Korea’s National Assembly voted on Tuesday. advocates the abolition of martial law imposed by decree of the country’s President Yoon Seok-yeol, at an extraordinary plenary meeting convened shortly after the president announced this exceptional measure, and thousands of people protested in the streets of Seoul.

At the plenary session, the dominant opposition forces in the chamber approved by 190 votes the lifting of martial law, which, according to the South Korean Constitution, forces the president to cancel the measure.
