He BOOX Note Air4 C comes as a natural evolution of the already impressive Note Air range from Onyx BOOX, taking e-ink technology to a new level. Designed to satisfy both avid readers and professionals looking for a versatile productivity tool, the Note Air4C combines a sleek design, an enhanced color display and a robust software ecosystem. But does it really live up to expectations? We had the opportunity to test it for a few weeks to verify.
Note Air4 C impresses with its construction right out of the box. Maintenance ultra thin design that characterizes the Air series, the device is both visually attractive and ergonomic. With a thickness of only 5.8 mm and weighing 420 grams, it’s light enough for long reading or typing, but also has the necessary robustness to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use (in any case, the included case is a must-have item).
The body is built on anodized aluminumgiving it a premium feel and remarkable durability. One of the subtle improvements to this model is the matte finish on the chassis, which minimizes fingerprints and gives it a consistently clean look. In addition, the wider side frame is still present, designed to make it easier to grip and reduce hand fatigue during prolonged use.
The USB-C port location remains on the left side, making it difficult to charge with the case on. Fortunately, and as we will see in the article, the autonomy is so extensive that it rarely bothers us, even if we are heavy users.
The real protagonist of the Note Air4 C is his 10.3 inch display with Kaleido 3 resolution technology 1860 x 2480 pixels in black and white (300 dpi) and 930 x 1240 pixels in color (150 dpi) offers an immersive visual experience, especially in color content such as graphics, comics or documents with highlights.
The colors are significantly more vivid than the previous generation Kaleido alThe clarity is brutal. Additionally, I noticed a lighter background than the previous color model, which improved readability without compromising visual comfort. This makes the Air4C an attractive choice for those who need to combine reading and work with colorful visuals.
The screen also includes a front lighting with adjustable temperaturewhich allows the device to be adapted to different lighting conditions. It works really well and I feel like it’s a significant improvement over the previous generation, although as with any color e-ink screen, the surface is slightly darker than the monochrome models. In any case, a reasonable concession given the technological leap towards color.
The Note Air4 C is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G octa-core processor, which is accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This combination ensures smooth performance in any scenario, even when using multiple applications simultaneously. Very heavy PDF files may take a little longer to load and we may notice small tearing compared to working on a powerful PC or high-end tablet, but again, the joy of reading and annotating on this screen is quickly forgotten.
The internal storage is huge for the type of files you usually work with on these devices, but there is also the option of expanding it with microSD cards up to 2TB. In addition, support for cloud storage such as Google Drive and Dropbox makes it easy to organize and access files. Personal recommendation: it’s a good practice to leave at least 10% free space for cache files and leftover applications.
As for the battery, with 3,700 mAh, the Note Air4 C offers fantastic autonomy, although slightly less than monochrome e-ink devices due to the energy demand of the color screen. With moderate use, you can expect it to last between 5 and 7 daysdepending on screen brightness and Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection usage.
Software is another strong point of the Note Air4 C. Based on a Android 13 The ultra-lightweight device offers full access to the Google Play Store, meaning you can install your favorite apps, from comic book readers to productivity tools like Obsidian or Microsoft Office. This sets it apart from competitors like Kindle Scribe, which is more limited in software flexibility.
The user interface has been redesigned for more intuitive control. It now includes widgets customizable pages that allow quick access to your library, notes and most used applications. There are also multitasking enhancements that let you split your screen and work with two apps at the same time. It all makes sense now that we have enough hardware to make it practical and fluid on a day-to-day basis.
The native NeoReader app remains one of the best on the market. It is compatible with a wide range of formats such as PDF, EPUB, MOBI and CBR and offers advanced annotation and read-aloud tools. The auto-resizing feature in PDF documents is particularly useful for fitting text to the screen and making it easier to read.
The included stylus is another plus. Thanks to pressure sensitivity and low latency, writing or drawing on the Note Air4 C is a natural and smooth experience. As happened to us with the previous model, we miss one more point of quality in construction and more touch and appearance. insurance premiumtaking into account the price of the device.
The BOOX Note Air4 C is built as a direct evolution of the Note Air3 C, and although they may seem similar at first glance, The improvements of this new model are significant. The new model has a 50% more powerful processor, 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB) and is updated to the latest version of Android. If we have the previous one, I don’t see the need for an update, but if we are going to buy a new one, the decision should be Air 4 C, especially with a horizon of use of at least 3-4 years.
In terms of design, although both devices retain the ultra-slim profile and aluminum body, the Note Air4 C brings small improvements that improve the user experience. The matte surface of the Air4 C not only reduces fingerprints, but also provides a higher quality in the hand.

BOOX Note Air4 C is a device that not only continues the strong tradition of Onyx BOOX innovation, but sets a new standard in the color e-ink tablet segment. The improvements over the Note Air3C are clear in terms of performance, making it an attractive choice for those looking for the latest in e-ink technology.
Although it is not without limitations, such as a slight loss of autonomy compared to monochrome models and a price that could be high for some users, the capabilities it offers justify the price for those who value innovation and versatility. If we really use it, it is a purchase that can pay for itself in a short time.
The Note Air4 C simply is an excellent choice for those who need a device for reading, note-taking and document management which combines the leap to color with the benefits associated with e-ink.
