Netgear introduces the Nighthawk M3 5G mobile router

Netgear has announced the launch of the Nighthawk M3, a mobile router that can do just that connecting to 5G networks around the world and from there it offers Internet connection using the Wi-Fi wireless standard.

Mobile routers are very interesting network devices when we need them internet access on the goin second homes, motorhomes or in areas where broadband networks do not exist or work poorly. They’re not cheap, but they’re more powerful than a mobile phone hotspot and far more reliable than (by default, unsecured) public networks.

The Nighthawk M3 is one of those small (large) devices that Netgear has in its catalog. Its size is minimal (105 x 105 x 21 mm) and allows it to be conveniently carried in a backpack to work anywhere, although it can also work at home or in the office after removing the battery and connecting to the mains to increase performance and improve coverage. On the front it has a 2.4 inch color LCD display which monitors mobile signal, connected devices and data usage.

Internally, the Nighthawk M3 is equipped with a modem RF system. Qualcomm Snapdragon SDX62 5G. The maximum speed of 5G is 2.5 Gbps with support roaming international in more than 125 countries and change operator in seconds because the router is delivered completely unlocked. Simply add a nano SIM card and data plan and get your mobile router up and running. To increase the signal, an external antenna can be connected to the two included TS-9 ports.

As for wireless connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6 providing maximum performance 3.6 Gbps and a coverage of approx. 90 meters squares. Despite their small format and the fact that these devices consume a lot, the battery life (5185 mAh replaceable lithium-ion battery) allows 13 hours of battery life before recharging via the USB Type-C port. Let’s say they can join up to 32 devices simultaneously.

The Nighthawk M3 is available now from the Netgear website for an RRP of £449. It is not economical, but it is very useful to access the Internet from anywhere with good performance and security.
