On Tuesday, Mexico’s Secretariat of Security and Protection of Citizens (SSPC) reported an operation in Sinaloa that resulted in the seizure of 300 kilograms of fentanyl in a house and another 800 kilograms in a truck.

Biden recalled that during his four-year mandate, which is about to end, he has made combating the opioid epidemic “a central axis of my agenda for national unity and my cooperation with world leaders.”

“And we will not give up. During my administration, more fentanyl has been seized at our border in the last two years than in the previous five years combined.

“We’ve put dozens of cartel leaders and money launderers behind bars,” he said, reviewing his anti-opioid efforts.

Biden also noted that the most recent data shows a more than 14% decline in overdose deaths nationwide, the largest decline on record.

“It’s not just about facts and figures. “These are families who don’t have to endure the loss of a child, a parent or a spouse,” he said.

“That’s why today, together with partners around the world, including Mexico, we are committing to redouble our efforts to control drugs, stop human trafficking, and save more lives.

“And we are making it clear: enough is enough,” the president said. (EFE)
