For some time now we have seen rumors that the Galaxy S25 could arrive in two different versions, one configured with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and the other with the Exynos 2500. This strategy has been used by Samsung on several occasions, but presents a problemand the two chips do not offer the same performance.
A recent benchmark listed on Geekbench confirms that the Galaxy S25 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC would be much more powerful than its Exynos 2500 SoC configured equivalent, and frankly, this is a problem that should end once and for all, as the differences between the two These are too big.
The numbers don’t lie. The Exynos 2500 chip scores 2,358 single-threaded and 8,211 multi-threaded under Geekbench 6. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC scores 3,180 single-threaded and 10,058 multi-threaded, numbers that confirm what I told you he said earlier that there is such a big difference between the two chips that it almost seems like it from different generations.
I am not exaggerating, the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 used in the Galaxy S24 reaches 2,293 points in the single wire test from Geekbench 6 and 7,117 points in the multi-threaded test. If we compare with the results achieved by the Exynos 2500, we see that the differences between them are very small, even though the latter is a generation ahead.
If Samsung decides to launch the Galaxy S25 in two versions, one with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and the other with the Exynos 2550, we will have a problem, namely that the markets that only get the terminal with this second chip will have an inferior and slower model than those in which said terminals with a Qualcomm chip can be purchased.
It’s important to keep in mind that it’s not yet confirmed what Samsung will do with this new family of smartphones, but looking at the scores obtained by both chips, I think it’s pretty clear that the best for consumers It would be that they only launched Snapdragon 8 Elite models.
The performance gaps between Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line chips and Samsung’s Exynos are widening and have reached the point where the latter They are no longer able to compete indeed with the former, neither in CPU nor GPU performance. Samsung tried to compensate by implementing its own AMD Radeon GPUs, but this move ultimately did not go well.
