Steam continues to break records, reaching another all-time high last weekend when it surpassed 39 million concurrent users. The launch of the ARPG PoE 2 was the most popular premiere of the weekmaking them top-3 players in the Valve store.
Video games are the main medium of entertainment in the world, which is increasingly moving away from cinema or music. A multi-million dollar business that moves dollars freely, both directly in the purchase of games or consoles and indirectly in related hardware. Steam leads the PC digital games business and the truth is that it has not stopped growing in all its parameters. Also in the number of users who, although connected, and not real users of games (over 14 million), already make an impressive number.

PoE 2 and the most played on Steam
We’ve already said that Path of Exile 2 looked very good, and those of us who played the original PoE expected it to be a blast. And so it was, so much so that we almost died of success as the crowd of players who wanted to release it had to endure the long queues and frequent outages that we suffered firsthand. Steam, one of the main access routes to PoE 2, has seen a surge 578,000 concurrent players on December 7. That’s not bad considering we’re talking about a game that’s in early access, with a launch that isn’t expected until – at least – a year away.
Additionally, while the final game will be free like the original PoE, you’ll know that it costs at least $30 to enter the trial period. An impressive welcome, no doubt. Either Blizzard gets their act together by improving Diablo IV, or we have a new king in the ARPG genre.
The rest of the Steam Most Played list is a mix of established titles and new arrivals to the platform. Among the former, CoD 2 and Dota 2 stand out with over a million current users, while among the latter, Marvel’s Rivals was the best premiere of the week after PoE 2. We leave you with a list of the top 10 of the last 24 hours:
- Counter Strike 2
- dota 2
- Path of Exile 2
- Marvel’s Rivals
- PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS
- rust
- Grand Theft Auto 5
- Call of Duty
- Delta Force
- Banana
Taking into account the growing trend of users on Steam and the arrival of the Christmas season, the most played of the year and with great releases on the horizon, 40 million users Connected on Steam will be available soon.
