Google traditionally summarizes the year and presents a ranking of the most popular searches by Ukrainian users*. We analyzed the most increased popularity of search queries in various categories during the year and determined the topics that Ukrainians are most interested in in 2024.

Among the most popular searches of the year, the query “Power outage plan” took the first place. The demand for “Euro 2024” ranked second, while “Syrskyi” ranked third. Also among the most requested ones of the year are “Olympic Games 2024”, “Easter 2024” and “Suja”.

In the category of people with the highest interest during the year, the leader was Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi. Ukrainians were also actively interested in names such as Oleksandr Usyk, Donald Trump, Kamala Harris and Klavdia Petrovna.

Regarding the 2024 defeats, the most requests were about Iryna Farion, Oleksiy Navalny and Alain Delon.

In the “Movies” category, the Ukrainian documentary “20 days in Mariupol” became the leader. In the second and third places are the sequels of popular films: the animation “Thoughts Inside Out 2” and the space fiction “Dune”. Chapter Two”. In addition, “Saltburn” and “Substance”, one of the most discussed films of the year, and the Ukrainian mystical horror film “The Witch of Konotop” attracted great attention from Ukrainians.

Among search queries for purchases in 2024, Ukrainians were most interested in where to buy energy solutions such as EcoFlow, charging stations, inverters and solar panels. Additionally, the most popular requests in this category include Dubai chocolate, zucchini legs and pipes.

In 2024, Ukrainian users searched for the meaning of the abbreviations MSEK, REB, TsNAP and KAB. Also, Ukrainians tried to find out the meaning of the words “terykons”, “quadrobers” and “chinazes”, what blackout tails are and the reference to arrow-7.
