GTA 6 will be a very challenging game, but its technical basis will be based on Xbox Series S hardwareso it ends up being more affordable than you might expect. If this console did not exist, its minimum base would be the PS5, a console that is much more powerful and therefore the requirements for this game would be higher.

To play GTA 6 on PC we will need a PC comparable to Xbox Series S but what will we need to make it play well on said platform? This is a question that many fans of the franchise ask themselves, and it is logical, because they want to be clear if the game will work properly on their PC, or if they should prepare for the expansion.

I know many of our readers have this doubt too, so we have prepared this special guide where you will find five things you will need to play GTA 6 no problem on PC. As always, if you need help or have questions about preparing your PC for this long-awaited game, you can leave them in the comments and we will be happy to help you solve them.

1.- Processor with 6 cores and 12 threads

CPU to play GTA 6

GTA 6 will have a high dependency on CPU, as it happened at that time with GTA V and the previous installments of the franchise, because:

  • You will use very extensive scenarios with a large number of graphic elements.
  • It will have improvements to NPC physics and animations.
  • It will display a large number of AI-enhanced NPCs on the screen.

Said processor must also have good IPC. The minimum will be Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel Core i5-12400F, but ideally it will have at least one Ryzen 5 7600 or Intel Core i5-12600K.

Both processors have quite cheap prices, so if you have a computer configured with a lower CPU, you won’t have to spend a lot of money to upgrade it. However, make sure your outlet is compatible.

2.- 16 GB of dual-channel RAM

The novelty from Rockstar was developed as a next-generation game, so we can no longer make do with 8 GB of RAM. The minimum will be 16 GBand of course it must be configured in two channels so that the communication between memory and CPU is as fast as possible.

Rockstar can achieve an ideal and completely optimal experience I ended up recommending 32GB of RAMbut with 16 GB, we should have enough to play it without any problems, if the optimization lives up to the expectations that this game has raised.

GTA 6 will have a huge map packed with detail-rich areas that we can explore without loading screens, so plenty of RAM will be essential for good performance. If we do not have enough RAM, the game may work, but we will notice it performance losses and constant tearing.

3.- High performance NVMe SSD disk

As I said in the previous point, GTA 6 presents us with a huge map that we can explore freely and without having to suffer through loading screens. So the graphics engine can generate in real time this whole world without the interruptions or the popping problems that are characterized by the sudden appearance of objects, we will need a very fast storage drive.

Its importance will be so great that you will not be able to play GTA 6 if your computer does not have an SSD. We’ve already seen the importance of this component in other open world games like Starfield or STALKER 2. In both, it’s impossible to play without an SSD because of severe performance losses, tearing and even it stops taking a few seconds.

A game’s graphics engine must have enough bandwidth on the storage disk to handle all the required resources, and a hard disk usually only runs at between 100 and 200 MB/s. Xbox Series S and Xbox Series 2400 MB/s, so this will be the optimal level so that you don’t have any problems with GTA 6.

4.- GeForce RTX 4060 or equivalent

Just because GTA 6 will be heavily CPU dependent doesn’t mean it won’t be GPU intensive, nothing could be further from the truth. To enjoy this game without any problem in 1080p resolution We will need at least a GeForce RTX 4060 or equivalent. I use this model as a reference because:

  • It’s a current mid-range option that’s fairly affordable and very popular (it’s the third most used on Steam).
  • It is more powerful than the PS5 GPU.
  • It is directly equivalent to Radeon RX 7600 and GeForce RTX 2080, which allows us to make comparisons that are very easy to assimilate.
  • It has all the key technologies that GTA 6 may require.

Having a GeForce RTX 4060 is not a guarantee that we will play GTA 6 at maximum 1080p with everything, but it is a guarantee that it will work at that resolution with good level of graphic quality in a smooth way.

We will need it to play in a higher resolution more powerful graphics cardOf course. For 1440p the recommended minimum will be GeForce RTX 4070 or Radeon RX 7800 XT and for 4K from GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER or Radeon RX 7900

5.- At least 8 GB of graphics memory to run GTA 6 with guarantees

GTA 6 will most likely work on graphics cards with 6 GB of graphics memory, but for the purpose of utilization high or maximum graphics settings at 1080p and we’ll need at least 8GB to perform well, that’s the minimum we see in other games that were ported directly from the PS5.

We will have to have at least 1440p between 10 and 12 GB of graphics memory, and in 2160p is most likely what GTA 6 requires between 12 GB and 16 GB of graphics memory. It will all depend on the level of optimization that Rockstar is able to achieve in this game, even in the worst case, if we meet these minimums, we will not have any problems, except that we may have to reduce the texture quality a bit.

Graphics memory will be very important in GTA 6 and it will depend on both the performance and the appearance of any graphics problems. Lack of graphics memory can cause stuttering and performance drops, as well as cracking and crashes. texture loading and quality issues.

What would be the ideal configuration to play GTA 6 on PC

It depends on the resolution, although by increasing this we would only have to replace the graphics card to satisfy the highest level of gaming requirements, so I can provide you with a basic configuration and three graphics cards that would be ideal models for each resolution:

Ideal basic configuration for all resolutions

  • Ryzen 7 7700 or Intel Core i5-13600K processor.
  • 32 GB of dual-channel DDR5 memory.
  • NVMe PCIe SSD drive with a speed of 3000 MB/s.

Ideal graphics card for 1080p

  • GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB or Radeon RX 6750 XT.

Graphics card ideal for 1440p

  • GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER or Radeon RX 7900 GRE.

Ideal graphics card for 2160p

  • GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER or Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
