You may have tried to send a WhatsApp message and the message got stuck on your phone for a while. You disconnected the WiFi connection in case the problem was resolved, but the message does not appear when your mobile data is used. The answer is obvious, the problem is not with you, but with WhatsApp. Actually, it’s not just WhatsApp. Major Meta applications are currently down permanently or intermittently, and this is a problem that affects the entire planet.

You can see from Downdetector that incident reports on Meta apps have been at their peak globally for almost an hour now. It won’t be the best December afternoon for the technical team at Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, as both WhatsApp and Instagram, as well as Meta itself, known as Facebook since its inception, depend on their servers. They all suffer from the same problem.

The meta is going through tough times right now.

Error messages are more noticeable in some Meta applications than in others. For example, on Facebook we may receive a message saying “Sorry, something went wrong.” You’ve probably received a message stating that the app is having trouble loading the Spanish interface. The first message states that the company’s technicians are working to solve the problem as soon as possible.

In case of WhatsApp, the error message does not appear like this. It may be that we haven’t received a message for a while and when we try to send a message it freezes showing the animated icon that appears while the message is being delivered. The message will come out sooner or later. We ran several tests in various chats, and some of them showed up after just over a minute, and others were still waiting, waiting for the servers to unclog a bit so we could travel over the Internet.

A similar situation occurs on Instagram. The app freezes or doesn’t load at all, and we can often get the feeling that the same photos are waiting for us every time we open it, instead of refreshing it showing something different. As with WhatsApp and Facebook, the applications will be reinstalled after errors affecting the proper functioning of their servers are fixed. In the meantime we have to wait.

So far Meta has not commented on the bug or stated how long it will take to fix it. We will update the information as soon as possible.
