Instant messaging is one of the preferred tasks we use when we are mobile, but what happens when we are sitting at a computer in front of a personal computer. We can continue to use the mobile phone, but obviously it is more practical for managing one electronic device. This is where the native UWP app for Windows comes in, which allows us to use WhatsApp on desktop in the best way from our computer.

Facebook (now Meta) followed Microsoft’s recommended path in revamping its desktop app. Faced with the previous Electron-based framework piling up performance issues and general inconsistency, it developed A native UWP “universal app” for Windows. How to use WhatsApp on desktop (Windows)

Installing the native version of UWP WhatsApp is quite simple as it replaces the previous Electron-based version if you were using it. The version must continue to run Windows 10/Windows 11 and as follows:

• Go to the Microsoft Store via this link.
• Download the app.

• Open WhatsApp on your phone and follow the instructions.
• In Settings, select “Connected devices”.
• Once activated, the camera points to the QR code to scan it.
• Ready. You will now have your mobile phone and computer linked to your account.

From there, you’ll be able to work with WhatsApp normally on the Windows desktop, and you’ll get essentially the same experience as the previous Eclipse and Web versions, but with improved performance, stability, and an interface with native Windows development.

What if I don’t want to use WhatsApp?

Meta development leads the messaging segment and it is very difficult to escape once your family or groups of friends are already in it. But you should know that there are better alternatives. Some have better features and others are more privacy-friendly.
