Google is introducing a new feature in Android to protect users from unwanted Bluetooth tracking.
Android Unknown Tracker Notifications automatically notify users when an unknown Bluetooth tracker moves. To further increase this security, Google is making improvements that give you faster and more frequent alerts. Two new features compatible with Find My Device have been added. Users can now temporarily pause their location and easily find out the location of the unwanted tracker.
Detect unknown trackers
Google is introducing two new features to help users detect unknown Bluetooth trackers more quickly. The first feature allows users to temporarily pause their location. This allows you to prevent your device’s location from being used by a detected unknown tag for up to 24 hours. This will allow you to take action more quickly, locate the tag, and deactivate it.
The second new feature, Find Nearby, allows you to find the tag’s location after an unknown tracker alert. Your Android phone will then redirect you to the tag to find out where it came from.
A few years ago it quickly became clear that Bluetooth trackers like the Apple AirTag had a dark side. These trackers are simple tools for stalkers, for example, who can use them to keep an eye on their victims. Apple and Google joined forces to make these trackers more secure.
