Genaro Garcia Luna sentenced to 38 years in prison for drug trafficking offenses and organized crime was transferred from New York to a federal prison in Oklahoma, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) website.

Journalist Jesus Esquivel reported that Genaro Garcia Luna’s lawyer has notified the country’s court that he will appeal the former official’s conviction.
