Former Speaker of the US House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi hospitalized after being injured in Luxembourg, where he had to take part in events marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, his representative said this Friday.

Pelosi, 84, “sustained an injury” while attending a formal meeting of a congressional delegation traveling to a European country and “was hospitalized for examination,” Ian Krager explained, without going into detail about the type of injury.

The Democratic congresswoman is “receiving excellent care from doctors and medical professionals,” the spokeswoman added, noting that Pelosi “regrets that she was unable to attend” the remaining events she had planned.

“She hopes to be able to return home to the United States soon,” he said.

In her statement, Krager expressed Pelosi’s “gratitude” to American veterans, as well as residents of Luxembourg and the Belgian city of Bastogne for their role in World War II.

The Battle of the Bulge, fought from December 1944 to January 1945, was the last major German attack on the Western Front during World War II and a failed attempt to break Allied lines in Belgium and Luxembourg.
