Elon Musk has a very clear plan for X: to make it the app for everything. The app is not only for creating images with AI with almost no filters, but also for everything: watching videos, doing live shows, talking to people on video calls, making payments… There are many ideas the businessman has for the platform. The latest one is According to the statements, it will create its own e-mail service.

Another thing that is very different is that the future “X Mail” will be able to compete with the giant Gmail. Let’s go piece by piece.

Where does this come from?. One chirp postal of course. “X Mail would be great,” one user commented on the social network, to which Elon Musk modestly responded, “Yes. It’s on the bucket list.” Actually, we have known this for a long time. In February, an X engineer asked, “When are we going to do XMail?” Elon Musk answered the question “It’s coming”, so the clues were there. But it’s always difficult to discern true intentions from all the other interactions on Elon Musk’s very active X account.

What will X-Mail be like? We don’t know. However, one xAI engineer stated in his profile that he would love to “have an email address that goes to the inbox in plain text, similar to direct messages, abstracting away the annoying and messy topics and formats that exist in email electronics.” So, what would be the child of X and Gmail direct messages? To this post, Elon Musk responded with a simple “that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

Because? Because in your desire to create your app for everything, important messages, invoices, newsletters, etc. It makes sense to have an email service you can get. However, if launched, X Mail will have to compete with Microsoft and Google, as well as other established players in the industry such as Proton. Microsoft has Outlook and Google has Gmail. Both platforms have millions of users and offer an entire ecosystem of products around the email account. X is currently little more than a social network.

a number question. X’s user numbers are not publicly available, but it is estimated to have 588 million monthly active users. Gmail alone has 1.8 billion users worldwide, not to mention Google. The view appears to be around 400 million.

If there’s one thing these X users have in common, it’s that everyone, without exception, absolutely everyone (let’s ignore the bots), already has an email account that they use to sign up. What’s more, the vast majority likely have an Android phone (and therefore at least a Gmail account) or an iPhone (potentially at least one Google, Outlook or iCloud account).

Both Google and Microsoft offer a full suite of services associated with their accounts, from office automation to search engines, AI services, professional tools, and even YouTube in Google’s case. The question is what X can offer so that a user who already has a Google, Microsoft or literally any other service account decides to create an email account in X and use it first of all.
