Researchers from the National University of Defense Technology of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have developed a new device that will allow small drones to fire powerful lasers. This was once thought to be impossible, as producing a long-range laser beam requires heavy and bulky equipment.
According to the newspaper South China Morning Post, Chinese scientists have equipped small drones with a guidance device that allows the devices to pick up laser beams and reflect them on other objects.
The device helps drones project a laser beam with up to 30 kilowatts of power, which is highly capable of cutting through metal.
