Former US President Bill Clinton (1993-2001) was hospitalized this Monday in Washington, where he is undergoing several tests and is under observation after he developed a fever.
“Everything is fine,” Angel Ureña, the deputy director of his office, said in a statement to US broadcaster CNN.
“He remains in good spirits and is deeply grateful for the excellent care he is receiving,” he said.
Clinton, 78, was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and hopes to return home to celebrate Christmas.
He has had several health problems since leaving the White House: He underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and had two coronary stents installed in 2010.
In 2021, he was hospitalized with a urinary tract infection that spread to his bloodstream.
Clinton campaigned for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris this year and recently published a memoir about her life after the Oval Office. (Europe Press).
