The latest June fix for Windows 11 on Tuesday (KB5014697) hacked Wi-Fi access points on Windows 11 devices. Microsoft quickly fixed the issue and finally a week later the bug was fixed.

Here’s how Microsoft described the problem and a possible workaround at the time:

Windows devices may not use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature after installing KB5014697. When you try to use the access point feature, the host device may lose its Internet connection after the client device is connected.

detour: You can turn off the Wi-Fi hotspot feature to fix the problem and restore Internet access on the host device.

The patch is available through a new additional update that the company has released today under KB5014668. You can download it manually through Windows Update or from the Microsoft Update Directory website at this link. The new update KB5014668 (build 22000.778) also includes a few new features like “Search Lighting” and more.

The problem with the Wi-Fi access point was not specific to Windows 11, but the same error was valid for Windows 10. However, it looks like users of the latter who suffered from the issue after the June fix was installed on Tuesday will have to wait a little longer, as Microsoft has yet to release an official fix for 10.
