It seems that Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, does not quite agree with the current initiatives taken by various companies in Silicon Valley to make people the owners of their data, to reduce formal regulation through decentralization.
And because of the above Dorsey proposed to create an Internet that reflects the fact that users are the owners of the information they post on the Internet. Extend decentralization processes to web applications and other types of tools and features that inhabit modern networks.
Based on the above, Jack Dorsey points out that the project to create Web5 was called Centralized Web Platform (DWP) in English for short. And it would create processes by which information circulated across multiple computers rather than from a single server, allowing, for example, the creation of new web search engines focused on different audiences. Something similar is happening today with cell phone networks.
According to the founder of Twitter, today the Internet is operated by several companies that have centralized data on the Internet and the cloud.
To understand the meaning of the tweets and Jack statements, it is necessary to distinguish “web5” from the current “Web3”.
At the moment, users have access to web3, where information in the cloud and on the Internet is processed through a “blockchain” or blockchain, which is a technology by which systems can manage large amounts of data, e.g. Mining cryptocurrencies or NFTs.
The above, with the intention that this information is disseminated on the Internet in a decentralized manner, i.e. there is no official regulation or data ownership by a particular technology company.
With all of this, various strategies are currently being developed to return data ownership to its users and make Internet access work in a more democratic way, as is the case with Google and its web3 team, which are already working in the area.
As for web5, as Jack called it, it seems to have the same goal as web3, which is to decentralize the information that is being disseminated on the Internet, but in this case through the incorporation of new methods and technologies as already. Explained the blockchain, it distributes it on applications and platforms that allow data flow from different networks.
This is because users not only register data and information such as interests or identification numbers on websites, but also in applications that connect to the Internet and deliver information to current search engines.
However, the founder of Twitter currently has no interest in developing this proposition, making it a reality and delivering it to Internet users, as by this time the idea was a means of demonstrating one of the possible evolutions of the era. Internet and critique the current situation in web networks related to data ownership and its circulation through several servers.
