Since February of this year, despite hostilities, the national telecom operator Kyivstar has connected 3,500 settlements in Ukraine to its 4G high-speed Internet network.

This was reported to Ukrinform by the press service of the operator.

“The national telecom operator continues to invest in the development of mobile communications, despite large-scale hostilities. Since February 2022, Kyivstar has increased the coverage of the 4G network in 19 regions of Ukraine, where it has connected 3.5 thousand settlements to high-speed data transmission, ”the statement said.

The company noted that Kyivstar considers its main task to be to ensure stable and reliable communication, and directs huge resources to support Ukraine’s defense capabilities and help the community. To do this, the operator continues to build and increase the coverage of 4G networks.

Thus, according to the press service, since February 2022, Kyivstar has modernized 3,000 base stations, connecting them with modern LTE-900 technology. These are mainly base stations located in small towns and villages with a population of up to 2000. This increased network capacity and improved 4G quality in 3,500 settlements in 19 regions of Ukraine. Among them are Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy and other regions of Ukraine where there is currently no active hostilities.

To use reliable and fast 4G Internet, it is enough to have a smartphone and SIM card that supports this communication standard. Subscribers can exchange an old 3G card for a new 4G card for free at any of Kyivstar’s 500 stores.

The company also said that Kyivstar has built 140 new base stations in 2022 to better meet its subscribers’ high-quality mobile internet needs. The company also started to develop frequencies in the 2300 MHz range, which it received from the state during the martial law in the country, in order to improve communication quality in regions with high data traffic.

“Since the beginning of the war, about 5 million subscribers of the company have moved from large cities in their regions to small settlements, 4 million subscribers from other regions to the western regions of Ukraine. In this regard, the telecom operator increases the capacity of the network and improves the quality of radio coverage in areas of increased Internet traffic, “- said the press service.

In addition, according to the operator, Kyivstar specialists, since the beginning of hostilities, have eliminated thousands of emergencies caused by damage to telecommunications infrastructure, replaced about 30 thousand meters of damaged fiber optic lines, carried out 3.5 thousand repairs on cellular towers. More than 90% of the company’s telecom infrastructure works full-time, providing communication and high-speed internet for the needs of subscribers, public sector and private companies.
