Apple recently announced the new Apple Silicon M2 chipset and launched a pair of MacBooks on this new processor. The company is expected to launch a few more devices later this year. Mark Gourmet is now in the newsletter Opening Bloomberg It is reported that Apple has already started working on a next-generation M3 chip.
Along with the release date of the Silicon M3 processor, Apple said next year the new chip will run on four Mac devices – the 13-inch MacBook Air (J513), the 15-inch MacBook Air (J515) and the new iMac (J433). There’s also a 12-inch MacBook, but the device is still in the early stages of development and little is known about it.
Before launching the M3 chipset next year, Apple is expected to launch a few more M2 series chips this year, which could include the M2 Pro, M2 Max, M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme. The company is expected to launch its first AR/MR headset on Apple M2 processor, new MacBook Pro models with diagonal 14 and 16 inches on M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. After that, the company may announce an updated Mac Pro on the M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips.
There is currently no information about the new Apple Silicon M3 processor, but it will likely be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). The M1 and M2 chips are made with a 5 nm process, but the M3 chip can provide a significant increase in productivity and efficiency if made with 3 nm technology. Source
