The US military has completed intensive testing of Microsoft’s new multifunctional glasses. For three weeks, 70th Army soldiers wore glasses and played three 72-hour scenarios, including enemy movement, attack, and defense.
The test report, due to be released in September, will show whether the US Congress will approve the next $424.2 million test cycle and begin purchasing the device, which is planned to spend another $21.9 billion. It should not be forgotten that this 22 billion includes not only the cost of the glasses itself, but also spare parts and 10 years of technical support services.
The goggles are a “home screen” similar to what fighter pilots use. Technically speaking, this is a very modified version of HoloLens glasses. The map of the device, which is always in front of the soldier’s eyes, displays a map of the area, the instructions of the commanders and other data (for example, the image of a thermal camera).
