Google launched the new Gmail earlier this year for a small group of users and is now ready to introduce it to the general public. In general, it could already be manually enabled, but from this week the company will activate it by default.

Gmail is one of Google’s great apps. It matured a few months ago (18 years since its launch) and continues to lead the segment web email clients. Although e-mail usage may have declined due to the rise of instant messaging, it is vital for tens of millions of Internet users and the companies that use it every day.

Google has redesigned the interface with design-inspired editing Material you. The main change comes from new navigation bar located on the left side of the interface, which contains quick access buttons for Google Chat, Google Spaces, and Google Meet. The colors and panels have also been slightly updated to match the new design language.

The new Gmail can be useful for anyone who needs frequent access to Meet and Chat applications and searches offers greater integration. And you can start a chat conversation, video chat with Meet, or collaborate on a document, all from the same Gmail.

Needless to say, the new bar takes up much more horizontal space, which will not please all users who use other chat alternatives and do not require the aforementioned greater integration. Essentially you can return to the previous design by selecting “Go back to the original Gmail view,” but it’s not clear if this option will be available in the future.

The last launch of the redesigned Gmail began on June 28 and will take about 15 days to complete.
