WhatsApp is developing a series of customizable avatars for users to use in video calls. In this way, not the real image of people, but a digital creation with 3D modeling would be seen.

This will be a very useful tool for those days when people are not feeling well or just don’t want to be seen on camera, so they can use this avatar to present a digital image of themselves in video calls.

And although the main purpose of these 3D symbols developed by WhatsApp is teleconferencing, they can also be used as stickers to send in individual chats or to share in groups.

This strategy would be developed within the strategy of Meta, which owns Instagram, Facebook and Messenger, to create a metaverse where there are customizable avatars.

According to WaBetainfo, the creation of these avatars for WhatsApp would have been in development since March last year and would be part of the latest Android 2.22.15.5 update, which was rolled out through the Google Play beta program.

According to the same WhatsApp news portal, this new feature can be accessed from the video call interface by selecting an option that can be called “Switch to avatar”.

As mentioned above, these avatars can also be sent as stickers in group and individual chats, so the way to customize them is to enter the avatar editor, which is already available since the last Android update.

Although it is currently known that this option will come to phones with Android operating system, it is possible that the company will extend this feature to iOS operating systems.

By incorporating these characters and 3D animations into current Meta applications and platforms, the first steps of what will soon be a Metaverse will be presented to the public, where all users will be able to imagine themselves in virtual worlds.

Based on the above, these digitally created elements will be responsible for populating the virtual environment, that is, they are a graphical object that represents real users in different virtual worlds.

Avatars, which are graphical representations of users who enter Metaverse through their devices, are customizable, as the goal is for people to be able to project their own desired image into this virtual environment.

What other uses do these avatars have?

In Meta’s case, the company is looking to use these characters to access other types of experiences that aren’t necessarily digital worlds of its own making, through alliances with third-party platforms and apps.

For example, branded avatars can be used in PokerStars VR games, Pro Putt by Topgolf and Epic Roller Coasters.

In conclusion, avatars are a creation that has been perfected for several years and considered themselves as the forerunners of the current era, Bitmoji emojis in collaboration with Snapchat, which work not only for messages, but also for access to online games.Social.
