Microsoft Edge it’s a great web browser, and that’s a more general opinion with each passing day. The move to Chromium was a huge success on Microsoft’s part, and all the improvements that have been made to Chromium since then continue to move in that direction. In addition, the company’s engineers played a crucial role in the development of Chromium, thanks to which some of the improvements of Microsoft Edge also made it to other browsers, such as Google Chrome.
In spite of Google’s browser remains the undisputed number one to this day regarding the user quota without indicating that its leadership is in jeopardy. The second position in the ranking is occupied by Apple Safari, and Google Edge is third, quite a distance away. According to StatCounter data from June 2022, Chrome achieved 65.87%, Safari 18.62% and Microsoft Edge finished on the podium with a modest 4.12%.
We must not lose sight, four out of a hundred users is more than a significant number of people, but obviously it falls far short of the goals that should have been set in Redmond. Among the plans for Windows 11, Microsoft probably intends to improve the visibility of Edge and push its users to at least give Edge a chance instead of rushing to install Chrome or other alternatives.

So we’ve seen moves in this direction before, but also in the opposite direction, where Google is discouraging the use of Edge. The browser war has one of its fronts here, and without a doubt much healthier, especially for users, than the use of non-standard elements, which we unfortunately had to suffer in the last years of the last century and the first current decade.
Now, since you can check whether you’re searching for Chrome or Firefox in Bing from Edge, it will show a message that, in case you didn’t know, tells you that you don’t need to download a new web browser to your computer. And then, as you might expect, they recommend using Microsoft Edge. I would like to know, and I will not be sarcastic, the degree of effectiveness of this type of action. Personally, this seems legit to me, although Google could do the exact same thing in their search engine results. It is not a backup for the user, but not against us either.
