Rockstar’s image is not in a particularly remarkable position these days. GTA V Online is still a great source of money and Read Dead Redemption 2 is still one of the best games ever for many people. However, with his latest release, he threw a fair amount of the prestige achieved by his titles straight into the trash and trampled some of them in the process.
I’m talking, of course, about the fiasco that was the launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, remastering his great classics GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas. Three games that I put more hours into than I care to admit at the time and left a sensational taste in my mouth. Three games that years (many years later) continue to offer exceptional gameplay and hook you from day one.
After have to download GTA: The Trilogy on the runand promising to return with improvements, the remastered version of the three classics returned to the store, but although an important part of the original’s errors were fixed, the remaining bugs and errors and a terrible feeling that he left that premature launch and nothing careful and the price that is hardly justifiable for the shoddy work done, it must have caused user revenue to be lower than expected, to no one’s surprise.
Although Rockstar never officially confirmed this.Rumors that he also worked on the Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV remasters have been circulating for years, and after the trilogy remaster, theories along these lines made a lot more sense. Something that worked in its favor up until the day GTA: The Trilogy was released, but from that point on it could become a heavy plate.
And today we know it from Wccftech Rockstar would indeed be working on the said remastered versions, but due to the poor reception of GTA: The Trilogy, he may have canceled the project., which has been sitting on the table for years. Something that, if confirmed, makes me wonder if it’s bad news or good news.
The idea of a remastered version of both Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4 seems very attractive to me in principle, I would like to play them again, but I will do so in improved versions, able to take full advantage of the current hardware. So canceling the project would be bad news. However, looking at the work done with Rockstar on the trilogy, Is it really bad news that a similar offense won’t happen? I think not.
