The EU will not go to war with Russia, and the main response to the war in Ukraine will continue to be sanctions, whose impact will only grow. This statement was made by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

“We started from intentions to action by showing that Europe can react when provoked. Since we don’t want to go to war with Russia, now the basis of that reaction is economic sanctions. They are just starting to have an effect that will only grow in the coming months.” he believes.

Borrell also stated that the sanctions imposed on Russia affected its military industry and hindered oil production.

“If we talk about the military sphere of decisive importance, it is possible because of the sanctions.
