Such incidents happen from time to time and the accounts of previously famous people suffer the most from them. Now the scammers have chosen the British Army page.

Details of the attack

The British Ministry of Defense reported that it is investigating the incident. Unusual content appeared on the military’s profiles on July 3, access to the pages was restored only late in the evening.

• Open YouTube hackers uploaded a video with Elon Musk. Old videos deleted, channel name and photo changed to make it look like real investment company Ark Invest’s channel. Hackers uploaded a series of old live streams featuring former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk to the page. These recordings were previously released as part of The B Word conference held by Ark Invest in June 2021. Criminals added text to the video with calls to join fake cryptocurrency projects. At a given moment, the hacked channel broadcast four live streams at once, some of which amassed thousands of viewers.
• INSIDE excitementWith 363,000 followers, it advertised to give away free NFTs. Also here, the hackers changed his profile picture, bio, and cover to give the page the impression that it’s about The Possessed NFT collection. The account made several retweets about distributing free NFTs, and the pinned tweet contained a link to a fake NFT project.
